We spent some time talking about driverless cars a little while ago, and as the moment we see them on our roads draws ever nearer, we're seeing more and more research being done on the concept. We think that's probably because researchers are trying to frantically keep up with everything we need to know before it becomes safe to have them on our roads!
One of the major questions about driverless cars, is how we as drivers (or should we be saying 'passengers'?) will react and respond to operating them. Here's a great article that talks about some of the research being done in this area.
Some of the major questions involve: How distracted are we going to allow ourselves to get? How much will we trust the cars, and choose not to get involved ourselves? And when we do need to step in and get involved (in a risky situation), will we be equipped to do so? One suggestion is that people who wish to use driverless cars must be given adequate training of some kind first.
Either way, we think it's fascinating, and we'll continue to keep you updated on all the latest research on driverless cars, as it's available!
