A surgeon, a researcher, and an artist walked into a lab. Sounds like the beginning of a joke, but in fact this is anything but. Dr Christian Kenfield, Dr David Logan, and Patricia Piccinini have worked together to build Graham, the first ever human-like body that is designed to survive a low impact crash.
The reality is that our bodies have evolved far more slowly than cars have, and we simply aren't built to survive car crashes. This team looked at how joints should operate, how a ribcage should sit, even how our brains need to be protected.
It really illustrates just how vulnerable our bodies are.
