The journey so far...

In honour of New Zealand Road Safety Week a little while back, the team at Fleetcoach have been feeling nostalgic. We're proud of our history, and we thought this would be an excellent time to give you a little rundown of how we've gotten to where we are today...

In honour of New Zealand Road Safety Week a little while back, the team at Fleetcoach have been feeling nostalgic. We're proud of our history, and we thought this would be an excellent time to give you a little rundown of how we've gotten to where we are today:

1990 - Our founder Dr Robert Isler begins to get interested in road safety at the University of Waikato, and he receives research grants to import the first ever eye-tracking device into the country. He made several discoveries about where people look when they drive, and why it’s so important to train eye movements.

1993 - Dr Isler is the founding Director of the Traffic and Road Safety Research group at the University of Waikato. The aim of the group is to produce research findings which can help address serious road safety issues.

2004 - CD-Drives (an educational driving programme for young drivers) is developed as part of a University of Waikato project and in collaboration with NZTA and ACC and wins the prestigious TUANZ award for best educational software in New Zealand.

2007 - The large ‘Frontal lobe' research project at the University of Waikato sponsored by the ACC and NZTA found that executive functions of the brain’s frontal lobes (hazard perception, risk management, emotional control) relate to driving performance in young drivers. The research findings help the Government to make a case to increase the learner driver licensing age from 15 to 16 years.

2008 - A2OM mind is launched in the UK as part of a University of Waikato commercial product, Dr Isler helps with the development of this online interactive programme delivered in the UK. It was nominated for a Prince Michael road safety award.

2010 - eDrive Solutions Ltd launches eDrive, an online interactive driver training programme, supported and partially funded by the NZTA and ACC, for young drivers.

2012 - The New Zealand Automobile Association starts using eDrive as a part of their Defensive Driving programme.

2013 - eDrive Solutions expands, taking on new team members and new premises!

2014 - Fleetcoach is built, an online driver training programme, targeted at fleet managers and corporate users. It's built on the latest HTML5 technology, and it’s the first of its kind. We continue to expand, with new team members, and continued investment, so we can grow even faster.

2015 - Fleetcoach add special skills modules, and continues to add companies large and small who are keen to use Fleetcoach to train their staff and fulfil their Health and Safety requirements, and a three-year Fleetcoach journey is developed, and a number of companies sign on.

Onwards… What’s next? Come and talk to us and be a part of our journey!
