All-in-one breathalysers have just been launched in New Zealand. This means that police no longer have to trundle people down to the station or nearby booze bus for an evidential test.
It cuts down on time, and as this article says, means the police can do all three tests in one. First, they'll do a passive test, which determines if the driver has been drinking. Then the screening test, which tells whether the driver is over the limit for their age. And finally, the evidential test, which is the official one that a conviction can be based on.
The first 200 devices will be introduced to a few areas of New Zealand, as well as all one, two and three-person stations, with more phased in over the next 3 years.
